Los Angeles, CA

The best stuff here is free. Seriously.

LA's best-kept secret is that the most expensive-looking city in America has more free world-class attractions than anywhere else. The Getty Center, Griffith Observatory, California Science Center, LACMA on certain days, The Broad, and every beach — all free. The trick is knowing what's worth the drive.

Local tip

The Getty Center is free but parking is $20. Take the 761 bus instead — it drops you right at the tram. Or go after 3pm when parking drops to $15.
