Denver is an outdoor city that also has a real indoor life. Red Rocks is an hour away, the rec centers are cheap and excellent, and the craft brewery scene means you're never more than a block from a good beer. The 300 days of sunshine thing is real — pack sunscreen, not an umbrella.
Local tip
Red Rocks is free to visit during the day when there's no concert. The stairs workout is legendary — 380 steps. Go early before it gets hot.
