Kansas City has more fountains than any city except Rome, free world-class art at the Nelson-Atkins, and a BBQ scene that will ruin every other city's BBQ for you. The 18th and Vine jazz district is where Charlie Parker learned to play. Nelson-Atkins Museum is always free and has a Caravaggio, a Rembrandt, and the giant shuttlecocks on the lawn. Nobody outside KC knows this museum is world-class.
