San Antonio, TX

The River Walk is free. The breakfast tacos are practically free.

San Antonio is the most affordable major city in Texas and one of the most underpriced in America. The River Walk costs nothing to stroll, the Alamo is free, the McNay Art Museum is free on certain days, and the Missions are a UNESCO World Heritage Site you can visit for $0. The food — especially the Tex-Mex on the West Side — is absurdly cheap. Skip the River Walk restaurants — they're tourist-priced. Walk two blocks in any direction and the same food costs half. The West Side and Southtown are where locals eat.
