San Francisco, CA
49 square miles of hills, fog, and things you didn't know existed.
SF packs an absurd amount into a tiny footprint. Free museums, hidden beaches, concrete slides from 1973, a wave organ that only works at high tide, and enough food for a different cuisine every meal for a month. It's expensive to live here but surprisingly cheap to enjoy.
Local tip
At the Fillmore, they give away free concert posters after every show. Just wait by the door when the encore starts. Been doing it since the '60s.
