Boulder has the Flatirons trailhead 10 minutes from downtown, Pearl Street Mall for walking and eating, and a cycling culture that treats bikes like cars. Chautauqua Park is free and gorgeous, the food is excellent (and yes, healthy), and the mountain views are constant and absurd. Chautauqua Park to the Flatirons first viewpoint: 30-minute hike, free, and the view is the postcard. Go at sunrise before the trail gets crowded.
